Dresses and Ties and Hats – Oh My!

I did it! I finished all of the kids things for their Easter outfits. It came really close though. The last flower pin for the last hat was finished in the van on the way to church! It was all worth it though. The kids loved their things (Axel is extremely hard to please) and everyone else loved them too.

A Big Project Ahead

I have taken on a pretty hefty task for the new sewer that I am! My kiddos will (hopefully) be wearing matching momma made goodies for Easter. I will keep you updated as if I complete each project. I purchased a couple of patterns for a tie for Axel and hats for all three of them.

And then I will be doing dresses for the girls. I’m not sure exactly what. Probably a simple pillowcase dress, but I really want to do something with cute little buttons on the front. I’m still playing around with that thought.

I purchased three different fabrics. A springy girly one, a gender neutral co-ordinating one, and a tan cordury one (for the hats). I’ll be mixing and matching the fabrics so that they all have some of the neutral fabric and the girls both have the girly fabric but in different places. I think. Does that make any sense?

In My Easter Bonnet

In high school we had to do a project for choir where we went to the elementary school and sang some songs with the students. One of the songs that we did was “In My Easter Bonnet.” At least I think that was what it was called….I don’t really remember much about the song, but I do remember that my bestie Emily and I went to Wal-Mart and asked them to donate the artificial flowers that had fallen off the stems for our project. They looked at us like we were a little crazy but they did give them to us. We stayed up late into the night gluing the flowers onto the bottoms of Styrofoam bowls and tied ribbons to them for all the kids to wear as Easter bonnets. Haha. Good times.
